European Mountain Ash

European Mountain Ash (Sorbus aucuparia) or Rowan is a small tree native to a wide swath of Eurasia, but widely planted in North America.  It produces copious amounts of bright orange-red fruit, which are high in vitamin C and can be prepared into jellies, syrups, wines, and tinctures.  The fruit are also used in some traditional medicines.  Various European cultures incorporated Rowans into their folklore.
